Mid-70s Japanese pressing (on Riverside’s Milestone imprint) of the Trio’s Explorations. Exceptionally well recorded and mastered album, with Scott Lafaro’s bass high in the mix, and Evan’s piano rich and enveloping. Original Japanese liner notes. This copy plays with some mild background surface noise, but it doesn’t interfere with the music. This is a truly excellent record with complexities in the interplay that unfold on repeated listens. A gem.
