Following the well-received downtempo tracks reminiscent of The Orb from their collaboration with The Mole, "Deadbeat Meets The Mole," Montreal's dub-tech/minimal heavyweight Deadbeat teams up with Bristol's Om Unit, a talent expanding the leftfield of UK bass music, focusing on dubstep/drum and bass. This luxurious release prioritizes sound quality, featuring one track per side. "Root," a 124 BPM chill-out stepper with horns that undeniably evoke a roots vibe and shimmering synths. "Stalk," a 128 BPM acid stepper with a powerfully grinding sub-bass. "Leaf," an 85/170 half-step track with a brilliant three-dimensional structure of keys, acid riffs, and percussion. "Bloom," a stunning 130 BPM track with vibrating, heavy acid riffs. This is a masterpiece that represents a modern update of "dub."
